The City of Grande Prairie hereby provides notice of its intent to directly award a contract to Cummins Clairmont for the supply and delivery of a replacement transit bus engine and associated mechanical services.

The City has chosen to direct award this contract for a maximum value of $80,281.42 and not to request competitive bids for the following reasons:

1. Only Known Supplier and Compatibility: Cummins Clairmont is the original equipment manufacturer dealer and local OEM service facility. Compatibility with the existing transit bus systems necessitates the use of the OEM supplier to match existing equipment specifications and maintain critical fleet standards.
2. Supplier Qualifications: Cummins Clairmont possesses the specialized OEM knowledge, proprietary diagnostic tools, and certified technician labor required to replace the engine on bus CTB-024 and return the unit to active service safely.

3. Time limitations. The Supplier has immediate availability of sufficient staff and resources to meet the City’s schedule, including performance of the required services commencing immediately.

4. Cost. The City considers this approach to be the lowest cost alternative to providing the requirements of this contract or the approach which provides best value to the City over the contract term.
